Membrion is a developer of ceramic ion exchange (IX) membranes for use in electrodialysis/electrodialysis reversal treatment processes. Membrion's membranes, which contain silica, are more durable than traditional polymeric IX membranes, meaning they can be used in traditionally membrane-hostile industrial wastewaters. It is conducting a number of field pilots in 2021 including in produced water reuse and copper discharge wastewater from a semiconductor fab. It is typically selling its membranes to OEMs but has also developed its own stacks to accelerate commercialisation.
